The CWP Trust has made an announcement about the management of Keynes Country Park.
“On December 10th the Cotswold Water Park Trust will take over the management of Keynes Country Park (currently known as Cotswold Country Park and Beach). The Cotswold Water Park Trust is planning to ensure that the Park is operated to a high standard and will be run as a flagship facility for both local residents and visitors to enjoy. …
…The process of appointment of the new operator is at an advanced stage but no final decision has yet been made. Consequently, the Trust has reluctantly taken the decision to close the Park temporarily until a new operator has been appointed.
However, while the park is closed to cars it will remain accessible to those who want to use the Park’s footpaths. Current activities businesses based within the Park; Waterland Outdoor Pursuits and Head 4 Heights (the high ropes course), remain open for business as usual. “
I have been informed that access on foot into the area will be free, unlike at present, and this should make winter birdwatching easier in this area and open up another access to Shorncote through the newer gravel areas and lakes (wellies will still be required by the hides). Fancy a walk and you could couple this with a round trip to the Smew.
