Black-necked Grebe on Cleveland Lakes , see webs below

Cleveland Lakes ( webs count):.  Black-necked grebe, 71 great crested grebe, 2 little grebe, 116 cormorant, 13 grey heron, 22 little egret, 61 mute swan, 217 Canada goose, 42 greylag goose, 151 tufted duck, 114 mallard, 16 red crested pochard, 60 gadwall, 126 teal, 410 wigeon, 44 pochard, 41 shoveler, 4 green sandpiper, 1 common sandpiper, 3 snipe, 10 curlew, 195 lapwing, 653 coot, 25 moorhen, 2 water rail, 2 kingfisher, 3 common tern, 34 lesser black-backed gull, 44 black-headed gull and 7 herring gull.  Nick Adams

Other birds seen around the site: migrating over – siskin, 5 grey wagtail, 37 meadow pipit, 195 swallow, 44 house martin, 5 sand martin, 32 pied wagtail, 9 linnet, 15 goldfinch, greenfinch. Others recorded – 12 chiffchaff, 5 blackcap, 6 cetti’s warbler, 21 reed bunting, 2 green woodpecker, great spotted woodpecker and a male sparrowhawk.  Nick Adams

Winter wildfowl beginning to arrive in the eastern waterpark, a raft of 20 great crested grebes on CWP 104 was a nice sight with plenty of cute stripey youngsters screaming to be fed with nonchalant adults. Mark Lang
