Female Marsh Harrier present “hawking” over reed beds at Cleveland Reserve at 7:28. (first seen 6am).  Harrier also showed well from Twitchers gate at 10.00.   Also Nightingale and Whitethroat singing.  1 Common Sandpiper, 2 Great Black-backed Gulls, 2 Common Tern, 2 Cuckoos and a Kingfisher.   Martin Adlam.   John Durell.   Mark Shields, Huw Jones.

Waterhay/Cleveland:  Swift over the new viewing blind, 5 Lesser Redpolls, one singing, 4/5 Common Whitethroats, 2 Lesser Whitethroats, Common / Arctic Tern, Cuckoo calling,  Green Woodpecker, c12 Red-crested Pochards, Oystercatcher, probable Reed Warbler sang briefly. Orange Tip, Small Tortoiseshell, Brimstone, Peacock.  Robin Griffiths

Twitchers Gate:  An increase in warbler song this afternoon with 4+ Blackcap, Common Whitethroat, Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Cetti’s Warbler and 2 Sedge Warblers. One Nightingale singing intermittently from CWP95 side of lane. Overhead a few hirundines moving, mainly Sand Martins, plus a single Swift. Green Woodpecker calls, probably 2 birds. Lapwing 7, Shoveler 3, Gadwall 2, Shelduck 1, Tufted Duck 20+, Song Thrush, 1 Red-crested Pochard,  Lesser Black-backed Gull 2 adults and several immature birds.  160 Black-headed Gulls in the area.   John Grearson

2 Yellow Wagtails, 3 Little Ringed Plover and 2 Shelduck at Eysey Quarry this morning. One of the site managers has found a pair of glasses in a gateway where birders watch from, if anyone has lost these let us know Kim I can get in touch with the manager and arrange their return.     Kim Milsom

CWP 43/65 area:  At least 4 singing nightingales.  Cuckoo, several lesser whitethroats, pair bullfinches, green woodpecker, plus other warblers; chiffchaffs, blackcaps, whitethroats, willow, cettis.    Roger Greenwood
