CWP 74: Twitchers gate. Curlew 5, Snipe 4, Lapwing 3, Oystercatcher 2, Little Egret 2, Grey Heron 3. 4 probable Little Ringed Plover in flight, Greylag 10, Shelduck 4, Teal 6, Canada Goose 6, Tufted Duck 38, Goldeneye 3, Shoveler 3, Wigeon 4, Pintail 2, Gadwall 6, Mallard 10. Common Buzzard 2 and Sparrowhawk over. Constant movement by a pair of Stock Dove. Several sub-adult Lesser Black-backed Gulls and a number of Black-headed Gulls. Song from Chiffchaff, Cetti’s Warbler, Robin, Chaffinch. Long-tailed Tit & Green Woodpecker calling nearby. Also Queen Hornet, Orange Tip, Peacock, Brimstone and Small Tortoiseshell. John Grearson
Upper Waterhay: The fritillaries are a bit late this year but should be in flower by next week. Present yesterday were singing Cetti’s Warbler, Great Spotted Woodpecker, a hare and 3 Pheasants, the latter probably guilty of picking the flower heads from fritillaries. John Grearson
