Blakehill:  4+ Short eared owls and a Woodcock.  First owl started flying at 4pm and by 5 pm at least 4 were in the air at any one time.  Woodcock flew in at around 4.30pm.   Mark Coller

Lower Moor:  14 Blue Tit, 3 Buzzard, 5 Carrion Crow, Chiffchaff, 2 Cormorant, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Green Woodpecker, 2 Greylag Goose, Kingfisher, 3 Magpie, Merlin, 56 Red-crested Pochard, 8 Robin, 3 Wren, 6 Bullfinch, 4 Canada Goose, 10 Chaffinch, 3 Coot, 2 Gadwall, 5 Great Tit, 5 Grey Heron, 4+Jackdaw, 2 Long-tailed Tit, 22 Mallard, 8 Mute Swan, 7 Redwing   Bob Markham

Sightings below are from along the Thames & Severn Canal, an area that is under reported.

There were 2 Buzzards & a male Reed Bunting at Cowground Bridge and a Little Egret was fishing in the River Churn. A few Redwings & Fieldfares, a Green Woodpecker & another Buzzard were seen along the canal to Boxwell Spring Lock.   Trevor & Sue Clayson

At Boxwell Spring Lock there were 2 male Bullfinch, 2 Redwings, 4 Goldfinch, 2 Long-tailed Tits & a pair of Mallards.    Trevor & Sue Clayson

CWP 4 – 3 Mute Swans, a Great Crested Grebe, 41 Wigeon, 2 Gadwall, 4 Mallard, 13 Tufted Duck, 2 Pochard, 18 Coot & 60 Black-headed Gulls. Also a Treecreeper along the canal towpath nearby.     Trevor & Sue Clayson

CWP 6 – 2 Great Crested Grebes, 8 Red-crested Pochard, 6 Tufted Duck, 6 Wigeon, a pair of Mallards under the feeders, 23 Coot & 3 Pied Wagtails.     Trevor & Sue Clayson

CWP 86 – 2 Cormorants, 14 Red-crested Pochard, 5 Mallards, 4 Tufted Duck & 4 Coot.    Trevor & Sue Clayson

CWP 97 – 2 Mute Swans, 2 Cormorants, 64 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 5 Black-headed Gulls, a Mallard, 5 Coots & a Green Woodpecker.    Trevor & Sue Clayson

CWP 301 – a Mute Swan, a Grey Heron, 2 Great Crested Grebes, 16 Tufted Duck, 12 Mallard, 5 Gadwall & 63 Coot.    Trevor & Sue Clayson

There were Robins, Wrens & Blackbirds singing all along the canal.   Snowdrops & Winter Aconites were flowering in shady hollows alongside the towpath.  ( Photos below by Sue Clayson).    Trevor & Sue Clayson
