On Friday the 26th of September we will be running a volunteer work party on the scrapes at Cleveland Lakes. The main purpose of this event is to cut and treat the willow growth which quickly takes over the islands and bunds of the scrapes, and makes the view impenetrable! This task is absolutely crucial and will compliment the work that CWPT rangers and volunteers already do to maintain the site for breeding and wintering birds. It also gives people a rare chance to get a close-up view of the scrapes, and see what makes them so important.
A rough idea of numbers is useful, so if you are able to let us know in advance that you’ll be coming then that’s great, but do feel free to make a decision on the day and come along at short notice. We’d really love to get as many people along as possible – this site won’t be as good for birds without your help!
